Rape, Ripe, Rope

Last month I wrote an entry asking people to guest what R_PE spelled based on the hints I gave.  The only possible words that R_PE can spell are rape, ripe and rope and any one of the three is the correct answer to my question.  The question is merely an exercise in thought.  Normally, I show three sets of pictures:  One set dealing with violence, one with cowboys and the last one with fruit.  The group who sees the violent images always say it's rape.  Those who see cowboys come back with rope and the third group comes back with ripe.  This second exercise shows that, whether we like it or not, the environment around us colors what we see.  Three seperate environments and three seperate interpretations of the same experience.  The first exercise, the one from last month, doesn't show my abililty to color what you see but rather how what's already in your mind also colors what you see; so, what did you see and what does it mean?  That, is entirely up to you to figure out.

Happy New Year

For most of you, today is only the 21st of March.  For me it is the first day of year 34.

Birthdays have stopped having much significance to me, they're just too much effort.  I don't care much that I'm another year older or starting on another year of life; afterall, age is only what we make of it.  There is, of course, one good thing about birthdays:  You can get away with just about anything on your own birthday.
